Overview
The McGill Executive Institute (“McGill”, also referred to as “MEI”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to the appropriate handling of the Personal Information (as defined below) entrusted to us. This Notice, including any applicable appendices, aligns with McGill’s Policy on the Governance of Personal Information (“Governance of PI Policy”). It may be supplemented by publicly available guidelines or separate consents where applicable.
McGill Executive Institute complies with the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information (chapter A-2.1, the "Access Act") and adheres to McGill University’s Governance of PI Policy, including its related guidelines and procedures adopted under the Access Act. We strive to minimize the Personal Information collected to what is necessary and limit access to such information in compliance with legal obligations.
This Notice outlines how McGill Executive Institute collects, uses, processes, communicates, transfers, retains, and disposes of (collectively referred to as “processing” or “process”) your Personal Information. The term “you” in this Notice refers to any individual whose personal information is processed by us. “Personal Information” means any information concerning an identifiable individual.
The McGill Executive Institute collects Personal Information from various stakeholder groups in different contexts. How we process your personal information
To fulfill its diverse activities, the McGill Executive Institute collects various types of Personal Information. We strive to limit our data collection to what is necessary to achieve specific, defined purposes.

We maintain appropriate security measures to protect both physical and electronic records of your Personal Information, ensuring access is limited to authorized personnel.
Your Personal Information is retained only as long as necessary to meet our business and legal obligations, consistent with the McGill University Records Retention Schedule (MURRS). Data processed or stored outside of Quebec remains governed by this Notice, applicable laws, and contractual protections.

In compliance with applicable laws, we may disclose your Personal Information to third parties necessary to fulfill mandates, contracts, or obligations. Any sharing is subject to contractual conditions ensuring secure, confidential handling of data.

5.1. Access
Subject to certain legal exceptions, you can access your Personal Information held by us. Requests may be submitted via email or through direct contact with the relevant unit.
5.2. Rectification
Requests for correcting inaccurate or incomplete Personal Information can be made through the appropriate channels, including program contacts in section 2.2.
5.3. Refusal or Withdrawal of Consent
You may refuse or withdraw your consent for data processing by notifying the appropriate contact or submitting a formal request. Consequences of such refusals will be outlined where applicable.
5.4. Complaints
Questions, comments, or complaints regarding our processing of Personal Information can be directed to our Access and Privacy Office. If necessary, unresolved issues may be escalated to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your Personal Information but cannot guarantee total security due to inherent risks in online systems. Please report suspected data incidents immediately.
